Wear-resistant ceramics are special ceramics with anti-wear as the main function. However, in many cases, in addition to wear resistance, wear-resistant ceramics also need to be impact-resistant and high-temperature resistant. In particular, ceramics themselves are brittle. In environments involving strong impact conditions such as mines, docks, and steel mills, some tips need to be noted when choosing wear-resistant ceramics.

1. Choose large and thick ceramics: Small pieces of ceramics are usually spliced together using ceramic adhesives. Under the impact of large pieces of materials, this type of ceramic is prone to cracking from the splicing, which will cause ceramics to break and fall off. If the thickness of the ceramics is not enough, they are also easily smashed and cracked directly, losing the effect of anti-wear and anti-impact. Therefore, try to choose large and thick ceramics in strong impact conditions.

2. If the temperature permits, choose ceramic rubber two-in-one ceramics: ceramics have weak impact resistance, but rubber has strong impact resistance. The advantages of the two are complementary under the combination, which can solve the problems of wear and impact at the same time. However, it should be noted that rubber cannot withstand high temperatures, so this two-in-one ceramic can only be used in a room temperature environment.

3. Choose ZTA ceramics: The wear-resistant ceramics we usually refer to are alumina ceramics, which have high hardness but high brittleness. For this, we can improve the performance of ceramics by adding other materials to alumina, and develop zirconium oxide alumina composite ceramics, that is, ZTA ceramics. Compared with ordinary alumina ceramics, ZTA ceramics have greatly enhanced toughness and impact resistance, and can run smoothly under high temperature environments, solving the problems of wear and impact for many manufacturers.

4. Choose impact-resistant ceramics with protrusions: In addition to starting from the material and thickness, we can also improve its impact resistance by changing the shape of the ceramics, such as making hemispherical protrusions on the surface of the ceramics. This method can also effectively improve the impact resistance of wear-resistant ceramics.

When choosing ceramics, these conditions can be selected separately or used in combination. We need to make reasonable judgments based on our own needs and actual working conditions.
