As of December 18, the Zhejiang Power Trading Center announced that cumulative green power transactions in the province had reached 109.6 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) this year, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 40.7%. Meanwhile, over 53.36 million green certificates, equivalent to 533.6 billion kWh, have been traded. The rapid expansion of Zhejiang's green power and green certificate markets has effectively met the growing societal demand for sustainable energy.
Since launching its first green power trade in November 2020, Zhejiang has achieved over three years of stable market operation and significant growth. This progress has been instrumental in driving the transition to low-carbon energy consumption, promoting the high-quality development of clean energy, and meeting the increasing demand for green energy across various sectors. According to a representative from the trading department of the Zhejiang Power Trading Center, the province organized 31 green power trading sessions in 2024, involving 20,000 participants across industries including automobile manufacturing, furniture production, textiles and apparel, and chemicals.
In a national first, Zhejiang introduced a "distributed green power aggregation trading" model. This innovative approach allows distributed energy resources to participate in green power transactions alongside centralized power projects, enabling them to generate additional revenue. To date, 109 distributed aggregation traders in Zhejiang have integrated 25,000 power projects into the market. These projects have collectively contributed over 23.03 billion kWh of electricity, accounting for 22.18% of the province's total green power transactions. This model has been pivotal in advancing the development of Zhejiang's green electricity market.
